The Digital Humanities Center (DH Center) in concert with the ITMO University Fellowship & Professorship Program is pleased to invite applications for fixed-term postdoctoral fellowship beginning no later than the next academic year. As a member of the DH Center team, the candidate is expected to conduct research related to digital humanities and also to teach two courses for the Data, Culture and Visualization International Master's program.
Research
- Computational Humanities;
- Cultural Analytics;
- Digital Curatorship;
- Digitization of Cultural Heritage;
- DH and New Media.
We particularly welcome proposals from candidates capable of teaching the following courses:
a) Social Media Analysis that should cover the following topics: understanding the spread of information/disinformation, homogeneity or heterogeneity of social networks, and tools for the social media research;
b) Digital Archiving: New Methods for Working with Digitized Collections that should cover the following topics: text and image markup, quantitative analysis, named entity recognition, OCR (Tesseract, OpenCV, Python), Computer Vision, and Database Design (Mongo DB).
The second course will be optional and can be dedicated to the research interests of the candidate.
Requirements
Applicants may have doctoral qualifications in Digital Humanities but postdoctoral researchers in cognate areas are also welcomed (e.g. including librarians, archivists, researchers in Slavonic studies, and digital media). We expect the applicants to demonstrate an engagement with DH issues and familiarity with DH methods but also an understanding of the changes that entail digital transformation. High-level technical skills will give the candidate a distinct advantage.
Applicants must hold or have submitted a PhD by the time of selection and not have held ITMO Fellowship previously.
